Naturefriends Mali, in partnership with local authorities and the school community, organised <\/span>on 15<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> May <\/span>a successful fruit tree planting day in the village of <\/span>Niasso<\/span>, <\/span>located<\/span> 15 km from San, as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental protection and climate action.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Held at the local secondary school, the event brought together the Mayor of Niasso, the Director of the Centre for Educational Activities (CAP), representatives of 2ADIB-MALI\/Naturefriends, teachers, community leaders, and more than <\/span>600 pupils.<\/span><\/b> The initiative aimed not only to green the school environment but also to raise awareness among young people about the importance of protecting nature.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The day began with welcoming remarks from the school headteacher, who thanked the guests for their support and encouraged pupils to take responsibility for caring for the newly planted trees. In their speeches, local authorities and Naturefriends representatives highlighted the crucial role trees play in combating climate change, improving living conditions, and preserving biodiversity. They also called on young people to become ambassadors for environmental protection in their communities.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

A symbolic first tree was planted by the Mayor of Niasso, alongside the Director of the CAP and a representative of Naturefriends Mali. Pupils, teachers, and guests then joined forces to plant and water the saplings, transforming the school grounds into a greener and more welcoming space.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In total, <\/span>115 fruit trees<\/span><\/b> were planted, including <\/span>75 orange trees<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>40 mango trees<\/span><\/b>. These trees will not only enhance the school environment but also provide long-term environmental and educational benefits for future generations.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the planting activity, the event served as a valuable learning opportunity. More than 600 pupils participated in awareness-raising sessions on climate change, environmental stewardship, and the importance of preserving natural resources. Special attention was given to promoting the participation of girls, many of whom demonstrated strong enthusiasm and leadership in environmental activities.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the day, pupils shared messages and slogans on banners expressing hope for the future and emphasising the importance of trees in sustaining life and protecting the planet. Their creativity and commitment reflected a growing awareness of environmental challenges and solutions.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The event concluded with a strong message of unity and responsibility. By bringing together local authorities, educators, community members, and young people, the initiative reinforced the importance of collective action in addressing climate change and building a sustainable future.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Naturefriends Mali extends its sincere gratitude to all partners, supporters, and local stakeholders whose trust and commitment contributed to the success of this initiative.
